Davis Cup: Minar and Hajek give Czechs 2-0 lead over Chile

Ivo Minar defeated Nicolas Massu 6-0, 6-2, 6-3 while Jan Hajek beat Paul Capdeville 6-0, 6-2, 6-1 to give the Czech Republic a comfortable 2-0 lead over Chile in their Davis Cup quarterfinal.

"I think it was a great day for our team,” Hajek said. “We both played very good matches. … We are leading 2-love but it is Davis Cup and it is still not finished. The matches looked very easy, but I think it wasn’t so easy. There were some tough rallies and we played good in practice.”

Massu produced51 unforced errors while Minar made just 22. The Chilean also never had a break point.

“This loss hurts, particularly playing for your country,” Massu said. “But unfortunately, you win sometimes and other times you lose.”

Chile is not playing with Fernando Gonzalez due to injury and the Czechs are not counting with Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek because of the same reason.
