Robin Soderling defeated Andreas Seppi 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 in two hours and 25 minutes and advanced to the semifinals of the Swedish Open in Bastad.

“It’s nice to have won without playing well,” Soderling said. “At the end I didn’t do anything special, he just missed.”

Seppi claimed the opening set and was up 3-1 in the second set. Then the Italian served for the match at 5-4 but was broken to love and won the next to games to level the match.

Seppi lead the match again 6-5 in the third set but Soderling sent it to the tie break and won it.

Robin Soderling will play in the semis againt David Ferrer, who beat Pablo Cuevas 63 63.

Ferrer has a clay-court win record of 31-6 after he reached his eighth ATP World Tour semi-final of the year. Today, the Spaniard needed 76 minutes to get past Cuevas. He saved both break points he faced and won 74% of service points.
