Verdasco loses at Thailand Open

Fernando Verdasco was upset 6-4, 6-4 by Benjamin Becker in the second round of the Thailand Open.

Verdasco was sluggish from the start of the match and quickly fell behind 4-0. He tried to comeback, but ended it up losing the set 6-4.

The Spaniard dropped the ninth game of the second set on a double fault, and Becker served well to set up match point at 40-30, closing it out with an impressive volley.

"It's always good to get a win over a Top 10 player," said Becker. "It's not every week that it happens, so it gives me confidence for the rest of the indoor season. I had beaten him before so I knew I had a chance today."

Viktor Troicki also failed to advance to the quarterfinals with a 7- 6-2 loss to Jarkko Nieminen.
