Melzer beats Almagro to reach Vienna final


Jurgen Melzer beat Nicolas Almagro 6-4, 6-4 to reach the final of the Bank Austria Tennis Trophy.

Melzer will play either Andreas Haider-Maurer or Michael Berrer for the title.

Melzer used one break to win the opening set against Almagro.

The Spaniard took a 4-1 lead in the second but didn’t win another game after Melzer received treatment on a left elbow injury.

Melzer is looking to lift the trophy at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tennis tournament for the second straight year after defeating Marin Cilic in last year’s final.
