Roger Federer Wins Swiss Indoors Basel Opener
Roger Federer was leading Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-4 5-2 when his opponent retired in the first round of the Swiss Indoors Basel.
The former world number 1 broke Dolgopolov to go up 4-3 in the first set and had no problems to win it. Then, in the second set Federer had double-break lead when Dolgopolov injured his right ankle while chasing down a return.
Robin Haase also advanced to the second round with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Stephane Bohli.
Haase was making his debut at the ATP World Tour 500 hard court tennis tournament in Basel and next will face the winner of the match between John Isner and Michael Llodra.

Fernando Verdasco scored a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Michael Russell while Stanislas Wawrinka defetaed Andreas Seppi 7-6(2), 7-5 in their opening match at the Valencia Open 500.
Verdasco is trying to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. He has the chance to secure his place if he wins the title in Valencia, and if he gets more points at the BNP Paribas Masters next week.
After squandering an early break advantage against Russell, Verdasco got the lead to win the first set. In the second set he dominated his opponent by breaking serve three more times.
Wawrinka was down 3-5 in the first set but got his game back and won the set in the tie-break. The Swiss then broke Seppi in the 11th game of the second set to seal the victory.

Nadal vs Federer: Tickets on Today
Tickets for the Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer exhibition match went on sale today through the official Rafael Nadal Foundation website: www.fundacionrafanadal.com. The tickets will cost 26 and 33 Euros.
The exhibition will beplayed on December 2nd 2010 and the two of the best tennis players in history and close friends, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will aim to raise funds for kids in need.

Tsonga Withdrew from Valencia Open
Jo-Wlfried Tsonga announced his withdrawal from the 2010 Valencia Open after experiencing knee pain during his semifinal against Gael Monfils in Montpellier.
Tsonga injured his knee at Wimbledon and missed some hardcourt events in the summer because of it. After losing to his compatriot last weekend he said some recurring trouble was to be expected.
The Frenchman will undergo an MRI on Wednesday before making a decision about whether to play the Masters in Paris next week.
Tsonga has set the Davis Cup final as his priority.

He says the Emirati capital “holds great memories” for him and provides good preparation heading into the Australian Open.
