David Nalbandian to play Heineken Open 2011
David Nalbandian to play Heineken Open 2011
David Nalbandian will headline the 2011 Heineken Open along with former world number 1, Juan Carlos Ferrero.
This will be Ferrero's seventh appearance at the January 10-17th tournament and will be the 6th seed while Nalbandian will be playing in his third Heineken Open and will be seeded number 5.
David Ferrer will be joing his fellow players here as well and he will be the number one seed. John Isner, who will have the tough job of defending the title, will be seeded in second place.
The rest of the seeded players for the 2011 Heineken Open are Albert Montanes, Juan Monaco,Thomas Bellucci and Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Tournament director Richard Palmer says he's pleased with the balance of new and returning players.
"Having David Ferrer, the world No. 7 come to Auckland again is fantastic. He is a great player to watch and being in the top 10 proves his quality," Palmer said.
"John Isner is obviously a crowd favourite while there are plenty of form players from 2010 such as Albert Montanes, Juan Monaco as well as a Grand Slam winner such as Juan Carlos Ferrero and a former Grand Slam finalist in David Nalbandian.

"It is also good to have a number of new faces. These include former world No1 junior, Thiemo de Bakker from the Netherlands, Columbian Santiago Giraldo and tall South African, Kevin Anderson," says Heineken Open tournament director, Richard Palmer
"We have had years where we have had four players in the top 20," he said.
"We don't have that this year, but we do have that strength between 20 and 30."
The ASB Tennis Centre in the midst of renovation and the work will be completed in June.
"It will be at a point where we can use - it has to be, that was the plan," Palmer said.
"We will have the essential facilities up and running to run two international tournaments."
Palmer added that players had experience of playing in other arenas around that the world than were undergoing redevelopment.
"It's not new to them," he said.
"What we do for the players will be first and foremost. That will be the part we will get to the best possible state we can."

Juan Martin Del Potro to play 2011 Delray Beach ITC Tennis Tournament
Juan Martin Del Potro to play 2011 Delray Beach ITC Tennis Tournament
Juan Martin Del Potro will play in the 2011 Delray Beach International Tennis Championships (ITC). Andy Roddick, Mardy Fish and John Isner are already confirmed for the main draw too.
This tennis tournament will be played on February 18 - 27 at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center. The winner of this event will receive $75,000 prize money and a 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera.
"With two US Open champions already signed, without a doubt this ATP World Tour singles draw is shaping up to be the best in our history," said tournament director Mark Baron. "Mardy Fish and John Isner finished 2010 in the top 20, and Fish could be in the Top 10 by tournament time. And having tennis' favorite "bad boy" (McEnroe) back for our ATP Champions Tour event just makes us ecstatic about 2011."
Del Potro's ranking skyrocketed to No. 5 in the world in 2009 following a US Open run that included wins over Rafael Nadal in the semifinals and Roger Federer in the final.
Juan Martin's magical year also saw him reach the Australian Open quarterfinal, the French Open semifinal and finals at the Masters Series Montreal and year-end Barclay's ATP World Tour Championships. Del Potro was limited to six matches in 2010 after undergoing season-ending wrist surgery.

Mardy Fish will play the 2011 US Men’s Clay Court Championship at River Oaks Country Club where he won the title in 2006.
Fish will headline the singles draw while Bob and Mike Bryan, headline the doubles draw.
“We’re excited to welcome Mardy Fish back to Houston and River Oaks,” said Tournament Director Van Barry. “Each year we have a great international field with players from all over the World, but we’re excited to have our earliest commitments to be from some of the top American players like Mardy and the Bryan Brothers.”

The American also won two doubles title in Houston, with Andy Roddick in 2002 and with James Blake in 2004.
The Bryans will be looking to win their fourth US Men’s Clay Court Championship title when they return in April.
They finished 2010 as the No. 1 team in the World, having won 11 titles for the year, giving them 67 titles together, surpassing the previous record of 61 held by 2010 International Tennis Hall of Fame inductees Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde.
