Jurgen Melzer beats de Voest at Malaysian Open

Jurgen Melzer defeated Rik de Voest 6-0, 6-4 to advanced to the quarterfinals at the Malaysian Open.

Melzer broke De Voest’s serve four times at Putra Stadium.

“The first set was one of the best sets I’ve played all year for sure,” Melzer said. “I’m feeling really good here. Hopefully it can continue.”

Dmitry Tursunov beat David Goffin 6-3, 6-3 in the second round while Marcos Baghdatis also advanced after beating Somdev Devvarman 7-5, 6-4.

Flavio Cipolla beat Bernard Tomic 6-2, 6-2 and Denis Istomin made it past Marinko Matosevic 6-3, 6-2.

Cipolla saved five of six break points to beat the Aussie.
