Isner shocks Federer in Davis Cup; US leads 2-0
Roger Federer lost to John Isner 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-2, leaving the United States ahead 2-0 in the first-round series at the 2012 Davis Cup.
Isner´s big serve backed by booming ground strokes challenged Federer in long rallies.
The upset was preceded by a thriller in the opening singles match in which Mardy Fish outlasted Stanislas Wawrinka 6-2, 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 9-7.
The U.S. can eliminate Switzerland in doubles in the best-of-five series Saturday when Mike Bryan and teenager Ryan Harrison are set to face Federer and Wawrinka.
