Philipp Kohlschreiber won the BMW Open 2012 title after beating Marin Cilic 7-6(8), 6-3 in Munich.

Kohlschreiber saved seven of the eight break points he faced and claimed the win in one hour and 49 minutes.

Cilic finished runner-up for the second time, having lost to Youzhny in the 2010 final.

"I improved from match to match, felt very well for the whole week and played good tennis," he said.

Kohlschreiber won more than $94,000 in prize money and a white convertible worth more than $73,000. Cilic won nearly $50,000.

"I don't really know what I should say," he said. "I don't have as much experience of this as (Roger) Federer."
