Tsonga and Lopez beaten in Queen's

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was beaten 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 by Ivan Dodig while Feliciano Lopez was defeated by Kevin Anderson 7-6, 7-6 in the third round of the AEGON Championships.

Dodig will face Sam Querrey, who defeated Julien Benneteau 6-3 3-6 6-3, in the quarter-finals.

Tsonga produced a lethargic display and Dodig took full advantage to claim the win.

Dodig played with freedom and confidence, while the Frenchman was far from his best form.

The opening set went into a tie-breaker where Tsonga produced an error-strewn effort that allowed Dodig to secure the lead.

Jo was able to find his touch in the second set and broke to lead 4-3 lead and then broke again to send the match into the decider.

Dodig saved two break points at 2-3 in the third set and then at 5-5 it was Tsonga who was forced to save a break point.

They reached another tie break on match point Tsonga sent a forehand long and gifted the win to Dodig.

Anderson, who will next face Grigor Dimitrov, edged Lopez in a match featuring just one break of serve for each player.

Kevin hit 18 aces to Lopez’s 11, and won two more return points than the Spaniard.

Lopez fell behind 1-3 in the first set but was able to get the break back when Anderson' served for the set.

In an epic tie-break Anderson saved three set points before finishing it on his third set point.

The second set also went into a tie-breaker which Anderson won.

Dimitrov beat Nicolas Mahut 7-6(3), 6-4, converting two of his 14 break point opportunities.

“I love this tournament. I played as a junior here, so I feel absolutely great every time I'm here.” said Dimitrov. “The atmosphere and the crowd, [and] the whole club, you can feel the history. Many players in the locker room are very pleased also to be here.”
