Wimbledon: Tsonga beats Hewitt, Fish wins after heart scare

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ousted Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of Wimbledon at the All England Club.

Tsonga broke once in each set and hit 61 winners to defeat Hewitt, a former champion in London who needed a Wild Card to play this year.

Playing his first match since having a medical procedure on his heart, Mardy Fish beat Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo 7-6 (3), 7-5, 7-6 to reach the second round.

Fish produced 24 aces 61 winners, 43 more than Ramirez-Hidalgo.

Afterward, Fish canceled his news conference, because "he's not feeling well."

The American hadn't played a competitive match in 2 1/2 months, taking time off because of an accelerated heartbeat.

Hours after losing a match in Miami on March 29, Fish went to be checked by doctors after his heart started racing at night, and he pulled out of the U.S. Davis Cup team's quarterfinal against France the following week.

He had a procedure called cardiac catheter ablation in Los Angeles on May 23 to correct faulty wiring in his heart.
