Kei Nishikori advanced into the quarterfinals at the Olympics after beating David Ferrer 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.
Darkness forced officials to move the match to Center Court with Ferrer about to serve at 4-5 in the final set.
When play resumed Nishikori needed only five points to close out the victory.
Nishikori will next play Juan Martin del Potro, who ousted Gilles Simon 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in one hour and 51 minutes.
"I played really well," said del Potro. "Simon also plays a very good game about me. It is amazing to play the Olympics here at Wimbledon."
"He was very effective on his serve," Simon said. "It was difficult because he wasn’t missing from the baseline.
"Every time I was able to play my best tennis, I felt I had a chance to win. But as soon as I dropped some easy points, he finally broke me and the first break at the beginning of the set was terrible."
