• Djokovic advanced to his eighth QF at Indian Wells with a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory over Isner. The Serb converted on both of his BP opportunities during the 92-minute encounter.
• Djokovic kick started his title defence with back-to-back straight-set wins over Baghdatis (6-1, 6-3) and Ramos-ViƱolas (7-5, 6-3).
• Djokovic is making his 10th appearance at the BNP Paribas Open. He was a champion in 2008 (d. Fish), 2011 (d. Nadal) and 2014 (d. Federer).
• Djokovic is bidding to reach his 44th ATP Masters 1000 SF (43-12 in QFs) and his seventh SF at Indian Wells (6-1 in QFs).
• Djokovic is chasing a 21st ATP Masters 1000 title this week. He is third in all-time titles won at this tournament level, behind Rafael Nadal (27) and Roger Federer (23).

• Djokovic arrived in Indian Wells after helping Serbia reach the Davis Cup World Group QF with victory over Croatia. The world No. 1 defeated Mate Delic before teaming up with Nenad Zimonjic to clinch the doubles points.
• In January, Djokovic became the first man in the Open Era to win five Australian Open titles, defeating Murray in the final. It was his eighth Grand Slam crown, putting him level with Agassi, Connors, Lendl, Perry and Rosewall in eighth place on the all-time list for most major titles.
• Djokovic’s last tournament outing came earlier this month in Dubai where he fell to Federer in the final. He had been bidding to become the 12th player in the Open Era to win 50 titles. He is currently tied with coach Boris Becker on 49.
• Djokovic is spending his 138th week at world No. 1 and he is now just three weeks away from tying Nadal for the sixth-most weeks at the summit of the Emirates ATP Rankings (since Aug 23, 1973). Federer holds the record with 302 weeks spent at the top spot.
• In 2014, Djokovic finished the season at No. 1 for the third time in four years, winning an ATP World Tour-high seven titles in eight finals. His season was highlighted by capturing a second Wimbledon crown, four ATP Masters 1000 titles and the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London.
• Tomic advanced to an ATP Masters 1000 QF for the first time with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory over fellow Australian youngster Kokkinakis.
• Tomic posted the fourth Top 10 win of his career in the 3R, overcoming No. 6 seed Ferrer 7-5, 6-4. It was his first Top 10 win since defeating No. 9 Gasquet at Wimbledon in 2013. The Aussie opened with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Coric.
• Tomic is making his fourth visit to Indian Wells. He had never gone beyond the 2R before this year.
• Tomic came into this week with a 12-24 career record at ATP Master 1000 tournaments.
• Tomic has now reached the QF or better at six of the seven tournaments he has contested this year, with his best showing a SF appearance in Delray Beach (l. to Young).
• In 2014, Tomic put together a fourth Top 60 season in succession after winning a second ATP World Tour title in Bogota in July (d. Karlovic) - his first off Australian soil. He was the lowest-ranked winner of the year (No. 124) and the youngest (21).
