Richard Gasquet, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Lucas Pouille all came through their quarter-finals in Marseille.

Gasquet defeated top seed Gael Monfils 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-2.

A tie-break gave Monfils the early lead, but he was unable to capitalise as Gasquet found another gear.

He was quickly level before securing his progression by winning five of the final six games, Monfils broken twice in the decider as Gasquet won the match to set up a meeting with Pouille, who beat Daniil Medvedev 4-6 6-1 6-4.

Pouille struggled for momentum in the opener but he quickly found his groove to take the match into a deciding set, where he broke crucially in the ninth game before serving out the win.

Nick Kyrgios is the only non-Frenchman in the semis after a comfortable 6-3 6-3 win over Norbert Gombos.

Kyrgios only needed 58 minutes, but he will probably require longer when he meets Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who made it past Gilles Simon 6-4 6-1 in the last eight.

“I thought I served and returned really well today,” said Kyrgios. “All that matters is that I’m going out there and playing every point hard. I think I’m pretty aggressive on my returns, particularly here where I’m trying to get in the first big hit.”
