Federer into Montreal final after beating Haase

Roger Federer defeated Robin Haase 6-3 7-6 to reach the final at the Coupe Rogers 2017.

The Swiss dropped only nine points on serve and hit 28 winners, including nine aces.

Haase pushed Federer to a second-set tie-break but it was not enought.

Federer will next play Alexander Zverev or Denis Shapovalov in the final.

The Swiss right-hander owns a 2-1 advantage against Zverev in their Head2Head series and he has never faced Shapovalov.

The former world number 1 broke twice for a 3-1 lead. He served out the set to 15.

Haase refused to back down, striking eight aces and never facing a break point in the second set.

But Federer found his way through the tie-break, advancing to the his third Masters 1000 final of the season when Haase lifted a forehand long.
