Alexander Zverev talks to the media before the start of The Championships

Q. How do you feel about your form coming into the tournament? What are your expectations? How much are you looking forward it?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I look forward to it. I think it's Wimbledon. I think everybody looks forward to it.

I've gotten a little bit injured in Paris. Everybody knows that. I didn't practice a lot before the tournament in Halle, so... I played it without having any practice. But now I feel really good. I mean, the practices I had here, the practices that I had after my loss in Halle were great. I feel ready to go.

Dominic Thiem reached the last two French Open semi-finals but never quite looked like a Grand Slam champion until now.

Thiem reached that stage again on Tuesday with a 6-4 6-2 6-1 demolition of injured second seed Alexander Zverev and declared himself to be a far superior player to the one who fell in his last two semis.

Novak Djokovic trounced him in straight sets in 2016 and Rafael Nadal again knocked him out in straight sets last year.

Nadal recovered from an early break in the third set after a 50-minute rain delay.

"My first victory here in 2005 is one of my greatest memories," Nadal said during the trophy presentation. "To have this cup with me so many years later is really specialissimo."

The victory means Nadal will reclaim the No. 1 ranking from Roger Federer on Monday.

Rafael Nadal kept Spain's Davis Cup hopes alive by beating Alexander Zverez on Sunday in the fourth rubber of their quarter-final against Germany.

Nadal's 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 win in Valencia draew the tie level at 2-2, with Spanish world number 33 David Ferrer up against Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in the fifth and decisive rubber.

Two breaks in each set were enough for Nadal to seal an impressively comfortable victory over Zverev in what was only the 31-year-old's second outing since returning from a hip injury.

Nadal said after the match he is still regaining sharpness.

John Isner finally put an end to his ATP Masters final agony on Sunday, winning the Miami Open for the first time by beating Germany's Alexander Zverev 6-7 (4/7), 6-4, 6-4.

The 14th seed had lost his previous three major tour final appearances in 2012, 2013 and 2016 but came back from a set down to beat Zverev in two hours and 29 minutes.

The victory capped a superb tournament for Isner, who endured a difficult start to 2018 which included an early-round exit at Indian Wells in his lead-in to Miami.
