Perth has been chosen as the third city to host the inaugural ATP Cup in January 2020, signaling an end to the Hopman Cup international mixed team event that has been hosted by the Western Australian city for the past 31 years.

Sydney and Brisbane were announced as the other ATP Cup host cities in January, with Sydney hosting the knockout rounds and final.

"The ATP Cup will launch the global tennis season for the men," Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said at the Perth Arena on Thursday.

Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic won the deciding Fast4 mixed doubles 4-3 (3), 4-2 Saturday over Germany to give Switzerland its third Hopman Cup title.

Federer rebounded from a close first-set loss to dominate the rest of the match in a 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-2 win over Alexander Zrevev.

Angelique Kerber beat Bencic 6-4, 6-1 to send the championship to the mixed doubles decider. It was Kerber's fourth straight singles win at the Hopman Cup this year.

Roger Federer overcame Jack Sock while Belinda Bencic battled past CoCo Vandeweghe to help Switzerland score a 3-0 victory over the United States and book a place in the final of the Hopman Cup on Thursday.

Federer stepped up his preparation for the Australian Open with a 7-6(5) 7-5 win in an absorbing match to give his side a 1-0 lead in front of a record Perth Arena crowd of 14,029.

Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber gave Germany its second consecutive win at the Hopman Cup mixed teams tennis tournament with singles victories Wednesday over Canadians Vasek Pospisil and Eugenie Bouchard.

No. 4-ranked Zverev beat Pospisil 6-4, 6-2 and Kerber defeated Bouchard 6-1, 6-3. Germany also won the Fast4 mixed doubles 4-3, 4-3.

Elise Mertens fended off Daria Gavrilova while David Goffin blitzed his way past Thanasi Kokkinakis as Belgium secured a 3-0 victory over Australia in the Hopman Cup on Wednesday.

Mertens fought back from a set down to outlast Gavrilova 2-6 6-4 6-2 in a two-hour battle at the Perth Arena to help Belgium keep their hopes of reaching Saturday's final alive.

Roger Federer continued preparation for his Australian Open title defense with a 6-3, 7-6 (8) win over Karen Khachanov at the Hopman Cup, helping give Switzerland a 2-0 win over Russia.

Federer's playing partner Belinda Bencic beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in a later women's singles match Tuesday to give Switzerland its second consecutive win in Group B.

Federer had his service broken by the 21-year-old Khachanov in the opening game, but rebounded to break back immediately and won the opening set in 29 minutes.

Jack Sock's Australian Open preparation suffered a setback when he was injured at the Hopman Cup in Perth, resulting in a surprise call-up for Australian veteran Pat Cash as a substitute.

On a chaotic day, Sock retired early in the second set of his men's singles clash with Yuichi Sugita, having injured his hip during his loss in the first set tie-breaker at the mixed teams tournament.

Daria Gavrilova beat Eugenie Bouchard in straight sets but Thanasi Kokkinakis was made to work harder to edge out Vasek Pospisil and give Australia a winning start to their Hopman Cup campaign against Canada on Sunday.

Gavrilova gave the hosts a flying start in the round robin stage of the eight-nation mixed team event, beating Bouchard 6-1 6-4 at the Perth Arena.

The Australian raced to a 5-0 lead in the opener but faced more of a challenge in the next, despite claiming the first three games of the second set against the Canadian.

Angelique Kerber won both of her matches as Germany beat Belgium 2-1 in their opener at the mixed-team Hopman Cup at Perth Arena on Monday.

David Goffin kept Belgium in the Group A encounter with a 6-3, 6-3 win over fourth-ranked Alexander Zverev, after Kerber had beaten Elise Mertens 7-6 (6), 7-6 (1) in a match that featured 11 breaks of serve.

The 1-1 score led to a Fast4 mixed doubles with Kerber and Zverev playing together for the first time and beating Mertens and Goffin 4-2, 4-3 (2). Goffin had his serve broken in the opening game, with all players holding serve afterward in a tight decider.
