Joao Sousa defeated Ryan Harrison 7-6(4) 7-6(4) in first round action at the Miami Open as unseeded players enjoyed a day in the limelight in Florida.

The big names start their campaigns at the weekend, allowing Sousa to enjoy the prestige of a center court showdown in only his second career meeting against Harrison.

The American saved three match points in a tight contest before the Portugal-born Sousa prevailed in a little less than two hours.

Istomin wins 2017 Chengdu title

Denis Istomin won the 2017 Chengdu Open title after opponent Marcos Baghdatis was forced to retire with a back injury.

Istomin was leading 3-2 when Baghdatis fell to the court and was unable to continue.

"I know his situation, because I've had a lot of injuries," said Istomin. "I know the feeling and we are good friends, so my first thought was to help Marcos when I saw him go down. Of course I want to win the title, but not this way. I hope he gets better and will be okay for the rest of the season.

Dimitrov beats Baghdatis keeps advancing at Wimbledon

Grigor Dimitrov moved defeated Marcos Baghdatis 6-3 6-2 6-1 to reach the third round at Wimbledon.

Dimitrov has found his form in 2017, he reached the semi-final at the Australian Open, and won titles in Sofia and Brisbane.

Today, he looked less like "Baby Federer" and more like the real thing as he made light work of Baghdatis, another former semi-finalist at the All England Club.

Baghdatis into Antalya Semifinals

Marcos Baghdatis beat Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 in the Antalya Open quarter-final.

Baghdatis led 6-1 in the deciding set tie-break but finally converted his sixth match point opportunity to seal the win in two hours and 43 minutes.

Despite the loss, Ramanathan, ranked 222, can be pleased with his results this week where he upset top seed Dominic Thiem in the second round.
