Murray upset in London

Murray upset in London

Andy Murray exit early at the AEGON Championships after losing to Nicolas Mahut 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(1).

Mahut broke open the match by winning the first six points of the third-set tie-break.

"It was a very close match... losing serve at the beginning of the third set after breaking him was probably not great. Got him back into the match. He's a very good grass court player. He's been in the final here. He's beaten Nadal and a point away from winning the tournament." Murray said.

"I was hitting the ball fine today. It wasn't like I was shanking balls and mishitting. I just need to spend more time on the grass."

French Open: Roddick sent packing by Mahut in opener

Andy Roddick lost 6-3 6-3 4-6 6-2 to Nicolas Mahut in the opening round at the 2012 Roland Garros tennis tournament in Paris.

Roddick could not even blame his exit on being outfoxed by a claycourt specialist.

Mahut fired 13 aces past Roddick to secure his place in the second round after two hours and 22 minutes of play.

The American, who had not played for two months because of a hip injury, refused to wallow in self pity.

"I'm not going to talk about this tonight, guys. I lost a match to a guy who played better than I did. We can ask it in as many different ways as we want," said the American.

"I'm going to not discuss it. I made a choice. I played. I'm fine. I lost.

"I move just horrendously out here. My first step is just so bad on this stuff. I feel like I'm always shuffling or hopping or not stopping or something. So my footwork on this stuff now is just really bad."

Gonzalez loses in Miami, plays last match of career

Fernando Gonzalez was beaten by Nicolas Mahut 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (3) in his first round match at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

Gonzales, who played his last tennis match as a professional player, says he would like to be remembered as someone who gave “100 percent every single time when he went to the court. And, of course, I think is much better to remember as a person than as a tennis player.”

The Chilean reached the 2007 Australian Open final, won 11 career singles titles, the 2004 Olympic gold medal in doubles and bronze medal in singles, along with a silver in singles in 2008.
