Murray Relieved to get past Tough Lu

Andy Murray was relieved to see off the challenge of Taipei's Yen-Hsun Lu and book a meeting with Carlos Berlocq in the last 16 of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

Murray beat the world number 79 6-3 6-2 in one hour and 28 minutes on Tuesday but did not have everything his own way against the man who stunned him in the first round of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

"It was a tough match. He's caused a few upsets over the last couple of years. He takes the ball extremely early, hits the ball very flat, and really goes for it," the world number three said to tennis betting news pundits.

Federer beats Isner to win Indian Wells title

Roger Federer beat John Isner 7-6 6-3 to win the Indian Wells titles.

Federer blunted the powerful serving of Isner with a controlled display, edging Isner 9-7 in the first set tiebreak then breaking him twice in the second set to triumph in one hour and 21 minutes.

Federer clinched the title when the towering Isner dumped a forehand into the net.

“It’s been a tough tournament for all of the players with a lot of sickness,” Federer said.

Federer reaches Indian Wells final with win over Nadal

Roger Federer defeated Rafael Nadal 6-3 6-4 to advance to the final at Indian Wells.

Federer will take on John Isner, who upset Novak Djokovic in three sets in the other semifinal.

“I know how well I played tonight, so I’m just really pleased with my performance,” Nadal said.

“It’s been a great week so far, and it’s another opportunity tomorrow to make it even more special. Obviously conditions were tough today and against one of my greatest rivals, it’s always nice if you come out on top, so I’m very, very happy.”

Isner shocks Djokovic to reach Indian Wells final

John Isner upset Novak Djokovic 7-6 3-6 7-6 to reach the final at the 2012 BNP Paribas Open.

Isner blasted 20 aces, the last of them a well-placed 135 mph serve to clinch the final-set tiebreak 7-5 and end his match after two hours, 45 minutes.

“That’s why I play this game, is to be able to enjoy moments like that,” Isner said.

“It was very special when that last ball went by him and I knew I had won the match. Not many people can say they’ve ever beaten the number one player in the world.

“I’m gonna have another shot tomorrow to play in front of a packed house for a big tournament title.”

Nadal vs Federer at Indian Wells 2012 semis

Rafael Nadal beat David Nalbandian 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 to set up a blockbuster semi-final with Roger Federer at Indian Wells.

In the opening set, Nalbandian broke broke Nadal with a winner down the line to take a 1 set to love lead.

In the second set, the Argentina was leading again while the former world number 1 came within two points of defeat at 5-4, 15/30 but he held and then Nalbandian double-faulted to hand Nadal his first break.

The Spaniard then served out the set and broke again to begin the third.

He went up 5-2 in the decider but Nalbandian was able to find his way back into the match.
The Argentine broke Nadal and threatened to draw level with two break point chances in the 10th game.
