Fernando Gonzalez out of Davis Cup
Fernando Gonzalez is out of the Davis Cup quarterfinal tie between Chile and Czech Republic because of the 10 weeks recovery he needs for a knee injury.
"The treatment I’m receiving makes me stop for a long time,” Gonzalez said. “If I come back for Davis Cup it would make the injury get worse and I won’t even be at my 50 percent for those matches.
"I feel really bad about not playing the competition I like the most. I wish things were different but they aren’t. If everything turns out as I hope, my return tournament will be at Masters 1000 Toronto.” He added.
The Chilean team will now be led by Nicolas Massu while Gonzalez will likely be replaced in the singles line-up by either Jorge Aguilar or Paul Capdeville.
