Lleyton Hewitt beat Leonardo Mayer 6-2, 6-3 to advance at the Gerry Weber Open.

Hewitt won 74% of service points and hit six aces while Mayer failed to convert any of his three break point opportunities.

Hewitt, who was going to play Roger Federer before the Swiss withdrawal, will next play against Andreas Seppi.

Tomas Berdych defeated Jan Hernych 6-3, 7-6 after recovering from a 3-5 second-set deficit.

Berdych saved six of seven break points and hit 11 aces.

Viktor Troicki advanced with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Igor Andreev.
