Almagro wins 2012 Nice title
Nicolas Almagro beat Brian Baker 6-3, 6-2 to win the the Open de Nice Côte d'Azur 2012 title.
"I played my best tennis in two years here," said Almagro. "I am very happy with my serve and my forehand. I moved on the court very, very well. Today, was one of those matches you want to keep in your mind for the rest of the season, because I couldn't have played much better. Today was amazing. I am happy with my form, my tennis and my team. We will aim to keep working hard, so I play, in future, as I did today."
Almagro received €71,900 in prize money and 250 ATP Ranking points, while Baker took home €37,860 and 150 points.
"It was a really tough match," admitted Baker. "He always seems to play pretty well. He didn't make many unforced errors and I think he seemed to have a high first serve percentage. He wasn't just trying to get them in, he was going for a lot. I was struggling to return his serve. I didn't feel like I played that poorly. I was a little sore and a little tired, but he was definitely the better player.

Rafa Nadal French Open Press Conference | May 25th 2012
Q. This year you have defeated Djokovic twice on clay, while last year you had a losing streak against Novak. What have you changed in your game since the Australian Open?
RAFAEL NADAL: Not much. I played fantastic in Australian Open, in my opinion, no? I played one of the best tournaments of the year for me in Australian Open.
I had my chances against him there. I lost. That's the game. Sometimes you win; sometimes you lose.
I lost against him seven times in a row, seven important finals. But don't forget that I had a good chance to win in Indian Wells, good chance to win in Miami. I had my chance in Wimbledon, I had my chance in the US Open, and I have my chance in Australia.
So all these matches that sometimes decides for very few points I lost. Last time especially in Rome the first set was very close. These few points that changed the result, I won the points. That's why I won. I am playing well.
But you can win and you can lose when you play against the best players of the world, and Novak today, he's No. 1.
Q. Li Na had to sit there and watch the draw today, so she saw exactly what's happening. But you were able to leave before the men's draw was done. Do you prefer not to know, not to see the draw before?
RAFAEL NADAL: I prefer to practice. I practiced at 12:00. No, I will stay there if I don't have practice. No, no, it is not nothing ‑‑ I have been there a lot of times when men's draw was there doing.
No, no, it is not a problem that I don't want to see the draw. It is a problem I have to go. I had court at 12:00.
Q. The media always talk about the big four, but it's actually three players: you, Roger, and Novak who win all the Grand Slams for so many years. How do you explain that only three people can dominate like that?
RAFAEL NADAL: Can dominate much more people, no, no, no. That's what happened in the last couple years. Doesn't mean that's gonna happen in the future. Every tournament is different.

Q. How's your back? How are you feeling fitness‑wise?
ANDY MURRAY: I feel fine. I have been here about close to a week now. Had some good practice and feel good.
Q. (French) Has your collaboration with Ivan Lendl changed anything in your preparation to Roland Garros compared with other years?
ANDY MURRAY: Yeah, I changed a little bit, but not too much. I think the only time of the year that will change significantly will be that period after Wimbledon because of the Olympics.
But, you know, I normally come to Paris pretty early. This is the earliest I have been. So maybe I came a couple days earlier than usual, but nothing's changed that much.
Q. Anything special about Paris outside of the tennis that you enjoy every year, that you look forward to?
ANDY MURRAY: Yeah, I do like it. Each year I have enjoyed it more and more. I guess as I have got older I've learnt to appreciate it more. It's a very nice place for us to come to. I find the site very different to a lot of the other slams. It's pretty compact.
But, yeah, I mean, there's obviously a lot to do, a lot to do here. I stay pretty much on the Champs Elysées, so it's always busy and nice restaurants and cinemas and stuff to do.
Q. Is it dangerous with some of the rich food to keep away from it, sweets and stuff?
ANDY MURRAY: Sweets? No, no, that's not a problem for me. Been on a good diet for about a year now, so I've got used to not touching any of the bad stuff.
