• Djokovic advanced to his seventh SF at Indian Wells after receiving a walkover from Tomic.
• Djokovic beat Isner 6-4, 7-6(5) in the 4R, Baghdatis 6-1, 6-3 in the 3R and Ramos-ViƱolas 7-5, 6-3 in his opening match.
• Djokovic leads the way this tournament in points won receiving second serve (64%).
• Djokovic is making his 10th appearance at the BNP Paribas Open. He was a champion in 2008 (d. Fish), 2011 (d. Nadal) and 2014 (d. Federer).
• Djokovic is bidding to reach his fifth final at Indian Wells (3-1 in finals), his 31st ATP Masters 1000 final (20-10) and his 73rd overall (49-23).
• Djokovic is chasing a 21st ATP Masters 1000 title this week. He is third in all-time titles won at this tournament level, behind Nadal (27) and Federer (23).
• Djokovic arrived in Indian Wells after helping Serbia reach the Davis Cup World Group QF with victory over Croatia. The world No. 1 defeated Mate Delic before teaming up with Nenad Zimonjic to clinch the doubles points.
• In January, Djokovic became the first man in the Open Era to win five Australian Open titles, defeating Murray in the final. It was his eighth Grand Slam crown, putting him level with Agassi, Connors, Lendl, Perry and Rosewall in eighth place on the all-time list for most major titles.
• Djokovic’s last tournament outing came earlier this month in Dubai where he fell to Federer in the final. He had been bidding to become the 12th player in the Open Era to win 50 titles. He is currently tied with coach Boris Becker on 49.
• Djokovic is spending his 138th week at world No. 1 and he is now just three weeks away from tying Nadal for the sixth-most weeks at the summit of the Emirates ATP Rankings (since Aug 23, 1973). Federer holds the record with 302 weeks spent at the top spot.
• In 2014, Djokovic finished the season at No. 1 for the third time in four years, winning an ATP World Tour-high seven titles in eight finals. His season was highlighted by capturing a second Wimbledon crown, four ATP Masters 1000 titles and the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London.
• Murray advanced to an ATP Masters 1000 SF for the first time in two years with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over F. Lopez. The Scot’s victory – the 497th win of his career – gave him sole ownership of the British Open Era match wins record, putting him one clear of Tim Henman (496).
• Murray beat Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-3 in the 4R, Kohlschreiber 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 in the 3R and Pospisil 6-1, 6-3 in his opening match.
• Murray leads the way in return games won this week (43%; 16 of 37 return games).
• Murray is visiting Indian Wells for the 10th time. His best run here came in 2009 when he finished runner-up (d. No. 2 Federer in SF, l. to No. 1 Nadal in F).
• Murray is contesting his 21st ATP Masters 1000 SF and his first since winning Miami in March 2013.
• Murray is bidding to reach his 13th ATP Masters 1000 final (9-3 in finals) and his 47th overall (31-15).
• Murray opened his season by reaching the Australian Open final for the fourth time (l. to Djokovic). He fell to 2-6 in Grand Slam finals.
• Murray lost in the QF of Rotterdam (l. to Simon) and Dubai (l. to Coric) in his only other tournament outings this year.
• Ahead of Indian Wells, Murray saw off Young and Isner in Glasgow to help Great Britain reach the Davis Cup World Group QF for the second year in a row with a 3-2 win over USA.
• In 2014, Murray finished in the Top 6 for the seventh year in a row after extending his run of winning at least one title to nine straight years. He advanced to the QF or better 15 times, winning three titles.
