• Berdych overcame the challenge of Rosol 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to book his place in a third BNP Paribas Open QF. He has not lost to a fellow Czech since a three-set defeat to Robin Vik in Dubai nine years ago.
• Berdych posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Johnson in the 3R after opening with a 6-1, 6-4 defeat of Stakhovsky.
• Berdych is back at the BNP Paribas Open for the 11th time. His most impressive showing was a SF appearance in 2013 (l. to Nadal). The Czech has fallen in his opening match here four times, including last season (l. to Bautista Agut).

• Berdych is bidding to reach his 17th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 SF (16-16 in QFs) and his second here at Indian Wells (1-1).
• Berdych finished runner-up in Doha in the opening week of the season (l. to Ferrer) before putting together a SF run at the Australian Open, where he defeated world No. 3 Nadal in the QF, ending a 17-match losing streak against the Spaniard (l. to Murray).
• In February, Berdych advanced to the final in Rotterdam (l. to Wawrinka in 3 sets) and the semi-final in Dubai (l. to Djokovic in 3 sets).
• All four of Berdych’s losses this season have come against Top 10 opposition.
• In 2014, Berdych finished in the Top 10 for the fifth year in a row, winning two titles - Rotterdam and Stockholm - in a career-best five finals.
• Federer made quick work of Sock in the 4R, defeating the American 6-3, 6-2 in 70 minutes to clinch his 50th match win at the BNP Paribas Open.
• Federer avenged his Australian Open defeat to Seppi in the 3R, seeing off the Italian 6-3, 6-4. The Swiss opened his campaign with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Schwartzman.
• Federer is contesting the BNP Paribas Open for the 15th time. He was a champion in 2004 (d. Henman), 2005 (d. Hewitt), 2006 (d. Blake) and 2012 (d. Isner), and a beaten finalist in 2014 (l. to Djokovic).
• Federer’s four titles make him the most successful singles player in the history of the tournament. No ATP player has featured in more finals here (five) or more consecutive finals (three: 2004-2006). Djokovic and Nadal have three titles apiece.
• Federer has an 8-1 record in Indian Wells QFs.
• Federer is featuring in an ATP Masters 1000 QF for the 71st time and he is looking to reach his 53rd SF at this level.
• Federer recorded his 1000th ATP match win in the Brisbane final (d. Raonic) before a shock 3R exit at the Australian Open (l. to Seppi). He claimed his second title of the season in Dubai last month (d. Djokovic).
• Federer has a 14-1 record this season with his only loss coming against Seppi in Melbourne.
• In 2014, Federer finished in the Top 2 for the 10th time, winning five titles including two ATP Masters 1000 crowns. Aged 33, he was the oldest player to finish in the Top 2 of the Emirates ATP Rankings (since 1973), and was the first to finish in the Top 10 for 13 years in a row (2003-2015) since Lendl (1980-1992). He also won a first Davis Cup title for Switzerland.
